The brand
In the USA and UK, Fightx is the top boxer glove brand with a range of quality, high-class equipment. To ensure that everything they deliver is capable of withstanding the toughest of sessions and ready for the next, the brand doesn't cut corners on materials or rush processes.
Gloves overview
As fightx's first pair of boxing gloves, the Velocity gloves are designed for comprehensive training, which makes them top boxing gloves. There are three sizes of gloves to choose from, 12 ounces, 14 ounces, and 16 ounces, as well as two color options, midnight black, and polar white.
A visual representation
Fightx has nailed these gloves' visuals despite being relatively new. The gloves have varying black and white panels depending on your chosen version. In addition to the split thumb, black is also used on the leather strip that binds the thumb to the palm of the hand and is also part of the logos.
This top boxer glove has a split palm that makes it look classy, similar to Grant's gloves, although the fightx logo matches the premium styling better than Grant's. With sharp, crisp lines, the logo itself appears really well printed.
Materials
It has a great leather exterior. Despite its thickness, it feels fairly smooth to the touch, and I can see it lasting for quite a while. The leather is tightly woven across the glove's body so that even after a fair amount of use, there are no unintentional creases around the thumb or back of the hand. The folds at the sides of the fingers where the glove curves are well done and look like top boxer gloves.
On one of the gloves, there's a very slight lump or bulge under the leather around the fingers, but it's hard to see and not something I'm particularly worried about. The materials do not appear to have any other problems.
Excellence in craftsmanship
In a way, these gloves fit like lace-up gloves, except they are attached with velcro. In fact, the cuff on this glove is similar to lace-up gloves in that it has soft padding along the inner wrist, like the cuff on a pair of gloves. Wearing these might be a good idea if you prefer the fit of lace-up shoes over velcro gloves.
Overall, fightx top boxer gloves are well constructed, with all sections stitched together. A close inspection of the palm will reveal several sections that are stitched really well and reinforced. The leather strip between the thumb and palm is also thick and nice. The gloves should hold together well as a result of their sturdy construction.
Usability and comfort
These top boxer gloves have a nice, fitted feel; they do not feel too loose or tight. It has a slightly firm feel but isn't too hard and has a slightly softer inner padding for comfort. It tends to be much easier to smash punches with a nice, hard contact if you have this kind of density when working on pads or bags. Due to their fit and shape, the gloves have proven quite useful in finding gaps during sparring.
It feels streamlined and fitted, likely more than other gloves tested, even though the padding isn't thin. It is a little difficult to open the fingers with these gloves due to the firmness of the padding. Fightx prefers an open-hand style of boxing with lots of parrying.
